War Horse, New London Theatre
War Horse is the story of Joey, a horse sold to the cavalry and sent to France in World War One. It follows his journey from Devon to the battlefront, and the friendships and challenges that accompany him along the way. Albert Narracott, a young boy and Joey’s owner, breaks the rules and beats the odds to enlist in the army to be reunited with his horse and bring him home. The ingenious production combines actors and puppetry in a visual masterpiece on the stage of the New London Theatre!
War Horse at the New London Theatre is based on a novel by Michael Morpurgo, adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford, directed by Mariane Elliott and Tom Morris, with music by Adrian Sutton. In 2011, a Steven Spielberg-directed film adaptation was released, receiving six Academy Award nominations. The theatre production of War Horse has won an Olivier Award, an Evening Standard Theatre Award, and London Critics’ Circle Theatre Award.
