Andrew Lloyd Webber’s romantic musical The Phantom Of The Opera is based on Gaston Leroux’s 1911 gothic novel of life beneath the stage of the Paris Opera House.
A mysterious masked man, whose spectral presence casts a shadow over the Paris Opera House, falls in love with Christine Daaé, a singer from the opera’s chorus. With the help of the Phantom’s ‘persuasive powers’ she soon becomes the star of the show. When she oversteps the mark, however, the masked man turns from friend to frightened monster.
The Phantom Of The Opera is one of the most successful musicals of all time and celebrated its 25th anniversary with three spectacular sell-out performances at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2011.
Now in its 26th record-breaking year, this multi-award winning musical continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s theatre in London’s West End, after more than 10,000 performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerising score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night. In addition to The Music Of The Night and the title number, The Phantom Of The Opera includes the songs All I Ask Of You, Think Of Me and The Point Of No Return.
Over 130 cast and crew are involved in the production and each performance has 230 costume changes.
